Privacy Policy
Effective August 8, 2026. This policy covers the SpokenText Reader external TestFlight beta, this website, and messages sent to support.
Summary
- Imported documents are copied into the app's library; the app does not use its own content-hosting server.
- Notes, clips, and playback-resume data are kept with the app's library data. Settings are stored on the device.
- You can opt out of Aptabase product analytics in Settings → Privacy.
- Website visits are measured with Vercel Analytics.
- Apple processes App Store subscriptions through StoreKit; we do not receive your payment-card details.
Library, notes, clips, and settings
When you import a document, SpokenText Reader saves a copy for its library on your device. It also stores library information, notes, clips, and playback-resume data locally. Where the app's iCloud container is available, it can mirror library data to iCloud so it can be available on your devices signed in with the same Apple ID. Settings such as reading and privacy preferences are stored on the device using Apple's settings storage.
Apple provides the iCloud service and controls its availability, synchronization, retention, and deletion behavior. Deleting the app does not necessarily delete data already stored in iCloud. To manage iCloud data, use Apple's iCloud settings and follow Apple's instructions for your account and devices.
App analytics
The app uses Aptabase to record product events such as feature use. Events can include whether VoiceOver is running so we can understand accessibility use in aggregate. The app does not send document text, note text, clips, email addresses, or advertising identifiers as Aptabase event properties.
You can stop these events at any time: open Settings, choose Privacy, and turn off “Share Anonymous Usage Analytics.” The setting is on by default unless you change it. Aptabase describes its analytics and data practices in its documentation and privacy policy.
Crash and hang diagnostics
SpokenText Reader uses Apple's MetricKit to receive crash and hang diagnostic payloads. The app stores received diagnostic files locally in its Application Support storage, separate from the document library, so they can be used to investigate a problem. We do not use a third-party crash-reporting service. Diagnostic payloads are technical reports and may contain device and app-state information; please review anything you choose to send to support.
Apple Intelligence and Local AI
Apple Intelligence is an optional assistant provider. Its availability depends on your device and whether Apple Intelligence is enabled. If you select it, the app supplies relevant document context, playback position, and notes to Apple's Foundation Models framework to answer your request. Apple's handling of that feature is governed by Apple's terms and privacy information.
Local AI is also optional. It requires downloading a model; once downloaded, Local AI generates responses on your device and does not require an internet connection for responses. Model downloads require a network connection and use device storage. AI responses can be inaccurate, so review important answers.
Subscriptions and payments
The app uses Apple StoreKit for subscriptions and restoring purchases. Apple handles billing and payment-card information. We do not receive or store your payment-card details. There is never a CELA-specific charge, paywall, tier, or upsell.
This website
This site uses Vercel Analytics for aggregate page-view measurement. When the public App Store link is active, the site records an App Store call-to-action click and its page placement; it does not include document content, email addresses, or other personal information. Vercel documents the service and its data practices in its Web Analytics privacy policy and its general privacy policy.
Our host may also process ordinary request data, such as IP address, browser information, and request time, for delivery, security, and reliability. We do not operate accounts, a contact form, advertising, or cross-site tracking on this website.
Support email
If you email support, we receive the information in your message and your email address so we can respond and keep a record of the support conversation. Please do not send sensitive document content unless it is necessary for your request.
