Help for the SpokenText Reader external TestFlight beta. Please include your device model, iOS or iPadOS version, and a short description of what happened when you contact us. Do not include document content unless it is necessary for your report.
Importing documents
In Library, choose Add (+), then choose Import File to pick a TXT, Markdown, PDF, DOCX, or EPUB file, Import URL to add a direct file link or an ordinary web page (which is reduced to readable text), or Text Document to paste or type your own text.
You can also open a file in Files, Safari, Mail, or another app, choose Share, then choose SpokenText Reader. The app imports its own copy into your library; it does not read from the original file in place.
If SpokenText Reader is missing from the Share sheet, scroll to the end of the app row, choose More, then enable SpokenText Reader.
Reading Bookshare books
Native Bookshare integration is not part of this beta. You can download an EPUB or EPUB3-based DAISY book from Bookshare in Safari, then share the downloaded file to SpokenText Reader.
- Sign in to Bookshare in Safari and download the book.
- Open the downloaded file in Files.
- Choose Share, then SpokenText Reader.
Getting comfortable with a voice
Try a few voices. Your device includes standard voices, but we strongly recommend downloading Enhanced voices. In our experience they sound crisper and clearer, especially at higher speeds, where standard voices can turn noisy. You can download Enhanced and Premium voices for free in iOS Settings under Accessibility, Spoken Content, Voices. They are large, so they are not installed by default. On a Mac, use System Settings, Accessibility, Read & Speak, System voice.
Most people end up with a favorite. Give a voice some time: like a new accent, it gets easier to follow the more you listen, and after a while you stop noticing it.
SpokenText Reader shows the voices installed on your device in Settings, Audio Defaults, Voice, and in the Audio sheet inside a book, and new voices appear there once they are downloaded.

Which devices are supported?
The external TestFlight beta supports iPhone and iPad running iOS or iPadOS 26 or later.
How do I import a document?
In Library, choose Add (+), then Import File, Import URL, or Text Document. Import URL accepts a direct link to a supported file or an ordinary web page, which is reduced to readable text. You can also use the Share sheet from Files, Safari, Mail, or another app and choose SpokenText Reader. Imported documents are copied into your library.
Can I read imported documents without a connection?
SpokenText Reader keeps a local copy of imported documents, so reading and playback can continue when you are offline.
What happens to my reading position, notes, and clips?
The app saves reading-resume information, notes, and clips with its library data on your device. Your app settings are also stored on the device. See the Privacy Policy for details.
How do I use the AI assistant?
Apple Intelligence is available only when it is supported and enabled on your device. You can also optionally download Local AI; after its model has downloaded, Local AI runs on your device and does not require an internet connection for responses.
How do I turn off product analytics?
In SpokenText Reader, open Settings, then Privacy, and turn off Share Anonymous Usage Analytics. This does not affect your library or reading controls.
